During our discussion, Dr Das delved into the multifaceted roles of energy transition in mitigating climate change. She emphasized the urgent need for action in light of the detrimental impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and biodiversity loss. Dr Das underscored the positive impact of technological advancements on the accessibility and efficiency of renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydroelectric power, citing their significant health benefits in preventing respiratory diseases and enhancing overall respiratory health. However, she highlighted the formidable challenge posed by existing infrastructure and the entrenched reliance on fossil fuels, necessitating substantial investments and reforms to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into current grids.
