Seeds of Change: World Water Week 2023

This is the moment we need a change, in action and mentally. It’s time to focus all our energy not on fighting the old but on building the new.  This week we are celebrating World Water Week 2023 (WWW) on the theme, Seeds of Change. This year WWW’s focus on innovative solutions for a Water-Wise World invites a rethink of how water is managed and urges consideration of the ideas, innovations, and governance systems needed in an increasingly unstable and water-scarce world.

World Water Week 2023 is organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), and it helps to address the world’s most significant challenges. This is the leading annual conference on global water issues. Climate fact checks also participate www online sessions.

Sessions

The programme will find hundreds of sessions on topics ranging from agriculture to city planning, innovation, and wastewater treatment. The session formats are diverse, with workshops, panels, pitches, storytelling events, competitions, etc.

While some sessions cater to a broad audience, others are more specialised. Since the session organisers are leading experts in their fields, World Water Week is the place to learn about new trends and follow events as they evolve.

Networking and collaboration

With participants from more than 130 countries, World Water Week offers unique opportunities to meet people from every corner of the world and learn first-hand about their experiences.

Learning

World Water Week is focused on advancing both scientific knowledge and practical know-how. SIWI’s Scientific Programme Committee ensures high academic quality and hosts seminars. Many other sessions offer scientific water expertise and specific skills and methods training.

Climate Fact Checks awareness sessions along with WWW

Climate Fact Checks deliver the school program at Maputugala National College, National School at 19th.  The school is located in Sabaragamuwa province, a bit far from the city. The session was focused on educating the young generation about climate change’s effect on water. These students need to be made aware of climate change impacts. Because of that, they actively participated in the event.

Field visits also observe on-site issues that induce climate change, such as deforestation, unsustainable development, water pollution and human-made fires in the wild, which was quite interesting for school children. After that, the students themselves organised a fashion show using sustainable materials and a drama about climate change and environmental degradation was also presented by the school drama team.

Climate Fact Checks is willing to share article series along with world water week under the following themes,

Women and water rights

Traditional water preservation techniques

Climate change’s effect on waterways

It will draw attention to how water can be a powerful tool to address the water crisis, global warming, biodiversity loss, health and hygiene and many other water-related challenges.

Stay tuned with climate fact checks to celebrate international water week.
